Part Two & Three now complete of the November Ceremonies, and I'm still above ground Ha! Friday 11-11-11 (Raleigh) saw us being soaked as the heavens open on us dumping a few gallons that would've altered the trim had we been submerged, we were well looked after both before, and after the ceremony, so therefore a big BZ to BJ and his staff for their hospitality, nice to see Wrecker L (Baz) in fine fettle, he managed to relieve me of some pounds for a Submariner's Hat Ha! The Sunder saw us on the Hoe having marched round from the Citadel, there wasn't a great number of veterans this year, but those of us that were there done marvellously well, very few shuffle, hitch kick, stumble, change feet, start stopping, HALT!!!!! It was all change this year with a different layout on the approach to the cenotaph and where we ended up on the parade ground (Car Park), the weather was kind, my only criticism if anything was that of a shortage of programme/singing sheet, I enjoy a good warble but had to stay shtum as I didn't know the words to a few hymns, we were treated to a school children's choir, what did surprise me was, there seemed to be many many more spectators this year all applauding, lifted me a little and made the dicky knee and aching hips a little easier, on the way off, one of the older veterans was having to be jacked up by his oppo's down the slope, but he made it. I met a couple of the lads on the car park and we swiftly found a watering hole, having sunk a few there, we changed venues and finished off the afternoon in the Mount Pleasant, by six pm, I'd had enough, so the most patient wife drove Alan Jones home and made sure I got home safely too. Sober now, enjoyed it immensely, apart from Christmas, I'm looking forward to March 03rd 2012 (SM2 Sunshine Squadron Bash) at the Weston Mill Oak Villa Sports & Social Club

commencing 11.45 ish til later, Start saving up now.

Stay well, stay safe.

First part of the November Ceremonies completed, I've been back now 24hrs, although no-one has checked in, I'm running with the idea that No News is Good News, I have however sighted our Standard Bearer, he's fine, it would be nice to have greater numbers travel to London for the Embankment Parade, but it's getting better with swelling numbers of serving members/ veterans and Branch Standards.

Gents,

Please be made aware of what's about to happen reference the November Ceremonies, first out of the trap is the Embankment Parade in London (Sun 06th Nov), make a week-end of it, the UJC is an ideal place to rest your head, but you'll have to hurry as accommodation there, could well be going fast as there'll be a goodly amount of us Submariners there, last year, I met a recipient of the VC from Burma and his family. Next out of the trap, on Fri 11/11/11 at HMS Raleigh main gate for 10.15, tea/coffee and biccys at the Submarine School, get 'Fell in', lay the wreath from the Plymouth Branch of the Association, into the Senior Rate's Mess, a few drinkees, into Torpoint to quaff a couple in readiness for the big ocean trip back into Plymouth, taxis all the way to the Brittannia Pub to meet up with other members who are observing 3 Battallion March through Plymouth that afternoon, sober up in time to muster in the Citadel Sun 13/11/11 09.45 ish (more tea/coffee and biccys), get 'Fell In' again, march with Guard & Band to Cenotaph, service over, either march back or fall out and head for a drinking hole. For both attendance to enter Raleigh and or the Citadel will require you to contact me in good time to place yourself onto the access lists, I'd love to see you there at ALL of the places, my contact details :- 01752 347009, e-mail billandden@hotmail.co.uk the sooner the better to give me fair warning Thank You & stay well.

One other for your diary Sat 03rd March 2012 at Weston Mill Sports & Social Club 11.45 til late, S/M2 Sunshine Squadron Bash, the chosen charity will be the final push for the most worthy cause, The Alliance Restoration Appeal (Final Push).

It is with regret that I read of the passing of ‘Buckwheat’ early last year. Please pass on my regards to Dougie Stewart who I know Buckwheat was very close too. I hope that when I get to Plymouth again I will be able to meet and catch up with Dougie and the rest of the members.

Dear All,

Message received from Knocker (Branch Treasurer) Essex Branch, Monday 01st Sept :- Dear Billy, On behalf of our Chairman (Fritz Fry) and all the guys from the Essex Branch, I would like to take this opportunity in giving you and all of your members a huge thank you for laying on such a great evening for us at your British Legion. With neat tot all round, dits abounding and oggies a plenty, what more could we ask.

Also we'd like to give a special thank you to Alan Jones and his crew for their personalised tour of Courageous in Plymouth Dockyard on Saturday morning. No easy task to arrange we feel sure and couldn't have been more appreciated by us for their time and effort; dare I say it, all of their patience, some of our lot aren't nuclear trained!!!!!

Again many thanks, and if you're ever our way we'd be only too happy to reciprocate, hope to see some of you in November on the Embankment Parade.

Regards

Knocker.
